The Plight of the Small Creator

reblog-symbol

I tried to reblog this an article but It turned out it was just too wordy and I booted me in mid sentence and posted it. I finished my thoughts here. Great read from Terminally Nerdy.

My thoughts on the subject hit home for me pretty firmly. It absolutely can be a frustrating journey. This is all a very well thought out writing that comes from the heart. Myself now after about three years of doing this feel much the same way. It is a given that if I blog something I expect less than 10% of my followers to consume it. It can be very frustrating so I focus on making content for myself and hope that the good works I do will be seen by others like myself that know spreading the word about projects is good for both the creator and the person that shared the content. I think that is the big issue these days. For some reason, there is a mindset that if you share someone else work you will lose your followers to that person whom you shared.

It is a given that if I blog something I expect less than 10% of my followers to consume it. If you dwell on that it can eat you alive.  So I focus on making content for myself and hope that the good works I do will be seen by others like myself that know spreading the word about projects is good for both the creator and the person that shared the content.

I think that is the big issue these days. For some reason, there is a mindset that if you share someone else work you will lose your followers to the person who’s content you shared. I think that is often not the case I think your followers will see that you are sharing with them good content and will appreciate you for it. If it does cost you, followers, it is likely because you were going to lose that follower anyway because you are not producing the content that they wish to consume. So don’t be afraid to share the good work that you see out there. Followers come and followers go. But Good Bloggers. Good Vloggers and Crafters that share their words, their thoughts, and ideas. are much rare to come by.

Great article, Spread the word when you see good content.
