To me this is not the best illustration but my favorite. The moment I picked up the book and saw this cover I was hooked. To this day no cover of any RPG has taken me in so completely. There are plenty of better looking pieces of art in RPG’s out there. This piece tells a story, One that I always wanted to be a part of.

Some days I would sit as I waited for game to start thinking about what was going on in this illustration. Was this a temple to some dark god? Were the thieves actually a part of the party below? Was this the final room in their dungeon delve or were they just getting underway ? It was in so many ways at least for me a perfect cover for an RPG.

It made me want to open the book and learn more about the characters within. How could I join them? Where could I find great treasures like the ones these adventures had. Thus I poured over the book. Devoured it, and I owe much of it to just this simple cover.
