Just a short off topic note here. Smash Up! is on steam. The game is still in Early Access but hey ! It’s Smash Up! The Developers plan to bring it to IOS and Android as well. At the moment I have only noticed it on Steam. For now, the free version only has 3 factions. But more will come and are already available for purchase.
If you love board games you likely have given this one a play or two. If not Check it out its FREE. I myself will likely be waiting until it hits IOS. As I have an ever-expanding collection of great board and Card games on my IOS.
(Note: This is Early Access expect some bumps in the road.)
So some Details.
WHAT THE DEVELOPERS HAVE TO SAY:Why Early Access?
“Smash Up is a unique and popular card game. We want to be sure that players easily grasp the premise of our digital version and check that our design is the optimal solution for playing both solo and multiplayer games. We want to be sure that the online experience is as good as it can be. We want to check that our delivery mechanism is acceptable for players.”
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Around two months.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The final game will have 3 factions in the free version and the possibility to play against three opponents online. It will be possible to purchase a Starter Pack which will grant access to the full suit of 8 factions found in the physical base game. That means each player can have a unique combination to ‘Smash Up’.
During Early Access, the only difference will be that the Starter Pack will fill-up with factions during that period. Additional player factions will also release more of the game’s Base Scoring cards, which are themed to match the respective factions.
AI will become more challenging at the harder level settings. We will make functionality adjustments based on player feedback. Support for further languages will be added.”What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“The game is playable both online and offline. Basic online functionality is in to allow online multiplayer and we will be refining the system through Early Access.
The three free factions included in the Early Access version are Dinosaurs, Ninjas and Geeks.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“Yes. People buying the Starter Pack during Early Access will receive a discount.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“We will be monitoring forum feedback to assess the game’s learning curve, preferences for factions, and overall usability.”
