Give us your donkey.

One of my favorite lines over the years of running games falls squarely on the phrase spouted from the lead of a pair of Fomorian Giants encountering my players on the road. They boldly stepped out of the woods holding a uprooted tree in hand. Pointing it at the party the Giant roared ” Wez Hungry give us your donkey and youZ can get to live.”The lines not all that great, two Fomorian Giants are not even that stellar of an encounter in the grand scheme of encounters. So why does this phrase stand out for me so vividly.
Because the Fomorian party was well beyond anything that my players could handle. Long story short after a few bold gestures, a tree bursting into flame and the party’s Paladin doing an impersonation of a tent-peg, the party left intact minus one donkey.
