Mongoose Traveller (1E) Support Now on Fantasy Grounds
SmiteWorks announces on the 11th that Fantasy Grounds will support the first edition of the Traveller role-playing game, published by Mongoose Publishing.
Here are a few shots of what it is going to look like:
Based on the Classic Traveller rules set, this book has been streamlined for modern roleplaying, and yet still retains that unmistakable Traveller aura. With complete rules for character and world creation, spaceships, encounters and trading, it is your gateway into new universes.
The Traveller Main Rulebook is the cornerstone of all your Traveller games, to be expanded upon with core supplements such as Mercenary and High Guard, or used with different settings like Starship Troopers, Judge Dredd and, of course, the Original Traveller Universe.
Written by Gareth Hanrahan, the Traveller Main Rulebook contains many things fans of the classic game will find familiar, but always with a new twist.
Now personally I think this is a step in the right direction for Fantasy Grounds. Most people that use Fantasy Ground over roll 20 do so because of the beautiful look and quality of how well they adapt licenses to their interface. They do this job so well that I have talked to many gamers over the years that have had no idea that Fantasy grounds can be used with any setting even though it says so right on their homepage. In a small way, Fantasy Grounds makes their licensed product look so damn good people simply forget the full capabilities the system offers.
Also, I think its great to see a product that might attract some more of the old guard die-hard tabletops to venture into the digital verse and break new ground. Who am I kidding as we all know there is a tremendous OSR presence online that will be happy to see something like this.
