Upcoming D&D DM Screen Reincarnated

An upcoming WOTC product on the horizon has been announced. D&D is Reincarnating their DM screen. Between you and me and apparently by the sound of the announcement it was well needed. Long time readers might recall that I gave this product a pretty sad review. That is pretty brutal when your only dealing with artwork and 4 panels of content.

The old D&D 5E DM Screen fell in at below average resulting in one of the lowest ratings I have ever given on my site 8. After putting the screen up for a few weeks I returned later only to find myself logging into my blog and dropping its score from an 8 to a 6!!. So what have we learned and what will have changed? Well here is what we know so far.

The interior rules content on this new screen has been revisited and refreshed as a direct result of feedback received from D&D fans everywhere.

  • The screen’s landscape orientation allows the Dungeon Master to easily see beyond the screen and reach over, even as it keeps die rolls and notes hidden from players.
  • Provides an at-a-glance reference for the most relevant and often used in-game information, equipping Dungeon Masters of all skill levels with essential support.
  • An excellent resource for new and existing Dungeons Masters to facilitate inspired adventures and an engaging play experience.

It is refreshing to see that they have taken the feedback from their fans and are going to make an effort to reincarnate the iconic DM screen. I will keep you posted as I learn more. Right up until I get my hands on a copy that I will do a fresh review. I hope to see the legendary screen find a more suitable score befitting such a universally used item.
